For over 100 years, hydropower has been the backbone of Norway’s energy supply. As the world looks for long-term sustainable energy solutions, our oldest renewable resource is gaining renewed relevance. At GOT, we are proud to play a key role in modernizing and maintaining this essential energy source.

We spoke with Remco Frank van den Berg, Project Manager at GOT Vinje Industri, about the company’s expertise and recent projects in the hydropower sector.

One Trusted Manufacturer. Complete System Delivery.

“At Vinje Industri, we install complete hydropower intake systems, including intake and dam gates, trash racks, hydraulic power units (HPU), trash rack cleaners, and control systems,” says Remco.

“All of these components come from a single trusted manufacturer, who has been producing hydropower technology since 1963. This ensures seamless integration, reliable performance, and high quality throughout the entire system,” he explains. “That’s one of the reasons we can stand behind what we deliver.”

Frøylandsfossen: Powering the Future with Å Energi

One of Vinje Industri’s key projects is at Frøylandsfossen power station, which is owned by Å Energi. Vinje Industri delivered and installed the intake and dam gates, as part of a larger contract managed by Tinfos AS.

“This was a forward-looking project that we’re proud to have contributed to,” Remco says. “A big thank-you goes to our skilled employees for their outstanding work throughout the process.”

Boenfoss: Full-Scope Delivery and Installation

At Boenfoss, GOT Vinje Industri delivered and installed a complete system, from intake and dam gates to control systems.

“This project was a full-package delivery,” Remco explains. “All major components, from the intake gate to the control system, were supplied by the same manufacturer, and we handled the installation from start to finish. It’s a great example of our end-to-end capabilities.”

Hydropower may be Norway’s oldest renewable resource, but it’s also one of its most reliable, and increasingly relevant in the face of today’s energy challenges.

“Hydropower is far from outdated,” says Remco. “It’s proven, sustainable, and with the right partners and technology, it’s ready to meet the future.”
